Iran's top Shia cleric calls Trump and Netanyahu "enemies of God"
One of Iran's top Shia clerics, Shirazi, on June 30 called US President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu "enemies of God." Experts believe this move is "inciting terrorism."
Taiwan Central News Agency reported: "The New York Post" cited "The New York Sun" reporting that Shirazi issued this Islamic fatwa (a death decree), calling on Muslims around the world to take a stance.
The fatwa states that any individual or government that challenges or harms the leadership and unity of the global Islamic community (Ummah) will be considered "an enemy of God" (mohareb).
According to Iranian law, those convicted as "enemies of God" may face capital punishment, crucifixion, amputation of hands and feet, or exile.
In the fatwa, Shirazi stated: "Those who threaten the leadership and integrity of the Islamic community will be regarded as enemies of God," he ended with a prayer, asking for protection from "enemies" and the swift return of the Shi'a Muslim messiah, Mahdi.
A commentator with British and Iranian dual nationality, Ghabani, condemned this fatwa, describing it as a state-endorsed act of inciting global terrorism.
He posted on the social media platform X, stating that Iran's Islamic Republic's attacks not only target domestic dissidents but also highlight its broader international ambitions in using violence under the guise of religion.
On the eve of nearly a week since the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Iranian state media reported on the 30th that during the 12-day conflict with Israel, at least 935 people in Iran were killed.
Additionally, Tehran recently accused IAEA Director General Grossi of "breaching his duties" because he did not condemn Israel and the United States' attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities earlier this month. The Iranian Parliament then passed a resolution supporting the suspension of cooperation with the IAEA.
French Foreign Minister Barbara Pompili, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy issued a joint statement expressing: France, Germany, and the UK condemn threats against IAEA Director General Grossi and reaffirm our full support for the agency.
The statement also noted: We call on the Iranian authorities not to take any measures to terminate cooperation with the IAEA.
We urge Iran to comply with its legal obligations, immediately resume full cooperation, and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of IAEA personnel.
