Foreign media: A consortium composed of a Chinese state-owned company and China Railway Construction Corporation has reached an agreement to help Santiago, the capital of Chile, build a 26-kilometer electric railway line, which is expected to cost 470 million US dollars.

This railway line will have eight stations, reducing commuting time into and out of the city center from 90 minutes to 24 minutes, providing faster travel options for about 35 million passengers each year.

In addition, two Chinese teams are participating in the bidding to construct a 3.2-kilometer railway tunnel costing 220 million US dollars, with new stations and gates inside the tunnel. This reflects the expanding economic influence of China in Latin America.
