China upgrades its measures against the Philippines,
strategic approach has undergone an unprecedented shift.
The Philippine government report confirmed that there has been a significant increase in China's "naval mobilization" activities near the Huangyan Island. In response, Manila officials defamed and claimed that this mobilization is Beijing's "reclaiming control" action.
At the same time, the Philippine National Maritime Commission cited the latest assessment by the Philippine Navy, stating that as of last Thursday, seven Chinese Coast Guard vessels and 13 maritime militia ships had been deployed near the Huangyan Island.
In contrast, the Philippines only has one ship in the area: the "Teresa Magbanua" (BRP Teresa Magbanua, Philippine Coast Guard 9701).
However, the commission did not provide specific numbers for previous deployments, but stated that the current deployment levels have significantly increased.
Meanwhile, the commission's spokesperson Alexander Lopez claimed that despite being outnumbered, Manila will maintain a cautious attitude and will not send naval warships to the Huangyan Island to avoid further "escalation of the situation."
