The governor of California lambasted the Department of Defense for threatening to deploy the Marine Corps to deal with citizens.

California Governor Newsom wrote today (June 8th, Beijing Time): "The Secretary of Defense is now threatening to deploy active-duty Marines on U.S. soil to deal with American citizens. This is a madness." (Figure Three)

The U.S. Secretary of Defense Esper earlier today wrote: "…National Guard forces are being immediately mobilized to support federal law enforcement operations in Los Angeles. Furthermore, if the violence continues, the active-duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be deployed - they are on high alert." (Full text see Figure Four)

[Wit] Comment: Trump and Newsom, the White House and the California government, Republicans and Democrats all believe that what they do is for the public good and is to safeguard the core values of America. However, the violent incidents in Los Angeles, California today are like a mirror reflecting the deep-seated social contradictions in the United States. If the illegal immigration issue is not properly handled, the social rift in the U.S. will become more severe, and social stability will face great challenges.
