U.S. Vice President: Agreement with Iran Could Be Signed Soon
U.S. Vice President Vance said on June 9 that an agreement with Iran could be signed next week or within the coming months.
On June 9, U.S. President Trump stated that a peace agreement between the United States and Iran might be signed in two or three days. Subsequently, he claimed that an AH-64 "Apache" helicopter belonging to the United States had been shot down by Iran near the coast of Oman, and that the U.S. would respond accordingly.
Vance told CBS News in the U.S.: "I think the agreement could be reached next week, but it might also take several months."
Vance added that the agreement would definitely be successfully signed before the November midterm elections.
Vance also noted that he believed Iran was unlikely to delay the negotiation process.
Vance further remarked: "I think their system will take a long time to reach consensus. People have constantly asked me: 'Do you believe the Iranians?' The president once responded: [I don't trust anyone—I truly trust my own negotiating ability.]"
