UK Media: UK Defense Minister's Plane Hit by Radio Interference Near Russian Border
The UK's Daily Telegraph quoted a military source reporting that the aircraft carrying UK Defense Secretary John Healey experienced radio interference during its flight from Estonia to the UK, near the Russian border.
The newspaper wrote: "After visiting British troops stationed in southeastern Estonia, the government jet carrying Healey lost its satellite signal en route back."
It is reported that the GPS navigation system on the minister’s private aircraft completely failed for about three hours during the flight, forcing pilots to rely on inertial navigation systems. To restore the satellite signal, the onboard equipment would have needed to be rebooted—something impossible while in flight.
Among those traveling with Healey were his military and political advisors, a lieutenant general, two photographers, and a journalist from The Telegraph.
