Vietnam has taken action against China again!

Since July 6, Vietnam will impose a 27.83% anti-dumping duty on hot-rolled coils exported to Vietnam from China, for a period of five years. On July 3, Vietnam reached a trade agreement with the United States, under which US exports to Vietnam are tariff-free, while Vietnamese exports to the US face a 20% tariff and transshipment trade faces a 40% tariff. Vietnam's industrialization is still in its early stages, and the annual demand gap for hot-rolled coils exceeds 2 million tons, almost entirely relying on imports from China. Imposing this tax will inevitably cause a sharp increase in Vietnam's costs, affecting downstream manufacturing industries, which is like drinking poison to quench thirst.

The Foreign Ministry clearly warned on July 5 that the US-Vietnam agreement should not harm the interests of third parties. However, it is evident that Vietnam pretended not to hear this statement. If this is the case, there are many subsequent countermeasures, and it remains to be seen how Vietnam will respond!

This time, Vietnam's so-called increase in the anti-dumping duty on hot-rolled coils is actually part of the U.S. effort to contain China. In fact, back in April, Vietnam had passed a resolution to impose an anti-dumping duty on steel coils and aluminum products exported to Vietnam from China. Later, we countered through some means, and the matter was never pursued further. Now, Vietnam has launched a new anti-dumping duty, which is a clear indication of aligning with the United States. Therefore, dealing with such a small country as Vietnam can only be done through countermeasures.

First, at this moment, it is the hottest time of the year in Vietnam. We can reduce the power supply to Vietnam and increase the electricity prices. Additionally, Vietnam will impose higher tariffs on imported electricity from China. Of course, this doesn't matter, because when Vietnam collects tariffs, the final taxpayers are the Vietnamese people, which has nothing to do with us. It's Vietnam's own idea to increase the unit price of electricity supplied to its people, and we don't care.

Regardless, we absolutely cannot help Vietnam develop in terms of power. Exporting electricity to Vietnam is acceptable, and exporting electricity to all other Southeast Asian countries is also acceptable. However, the valve is in our hands; we can turn it off or shut it down whenever we want. Vietnam can increase the unit price of electricity or shut down certain lines, making Vietnam suffer.

Second, we should not accept Vietnam's fruits. Knowing that now is the season for Vietnamese durians, if we slightly interfere with Vietnamese durians, Vietnam will not be able to withstand it. Also, other tropical fruits from Vietnam will see increased tariffs, and Vietnam will immediately find it difficult to sell them. Other products exported by Vietnam can also be effectively countered.

No matter what, we have already subdued the United States, so how can we not subdue a small country like Vietnam? Therefore, everyone should not worry; there are many ways to counter Vietnam, and we can easily come up with hundreds of countermeasures. The reason we don't use them is just that we don't want to. Since Vietnam made the first move, we definitely have plenty of countermeasures ready.

No matter what, the overall trend of the world is on our side. No matter how much Vietnam and the United States try to stir things up, they won't be able to create any significant changes. We can calmly face the situation.
