Federal Service for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Russian Federation: Bans Certain Chinese Truck Brands from Market Entry
Moscow, TASS — The Federal Service for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Russian Federation has prohibited the introduction of certain Chinese truck and special-purpose vehicle models into the Russian market due to non-compliance with safety requirements. The affected brands include Dongfeng, Foton, Jianghuai, and XCMG.
The statement specifies that the restricted models are: Dongfeng DFRZ-35, Foton 77N5BJ, XCMG XCT50G5-1S and XCA200G7-1S, as well as Jianghuai K7.
The decision follows unscheduled on-site inspections conducted with official representatives of the Dongfeng, Foton, XCMG, and Jianghuai brands.
Additional regulatory measures apply to certain special and dedicated vehicles based on models produced by Jianghuai, Kia (KIA), Shaanxi Automobile (Shacman), First Auto Works (FAW), and Ford. These include models 77ADJL, SE27, TD-001, N382a-A2, and KFN332.
The Federal Service for Technical Regulation and Metrology stated that these vehicles exhibit deficiencies in compliance with safety standards, including issues related to braking systems, emissions, external protrusions on the body, anchor points for seat belts, cab protection performance, and interior and exterior noise levels. Additional non-conformities were identified in emergency call systems, lighting equipment, and signaling devices.
All relevant brand representatives and manufacturers have been notified and confirmed that sales of non-compliant vehicles have been suspended, and corrective action plans are being developed to prevent risks to public life and health.
The Federal Service for Technical Regulation and Metrology will review these remediation plans. If deemed sufficient, they will be approved.
