Foreign media: China’s manufacturing sector is bypassing traditional digitalization and moving directly into an era of "agent-based AI" applications, beginning to export this model to global supply chains. The CEO of Heihu Technology stated that, much like China skipped credit cards to adopt mobile payments, many factories are now skipping full-scale digital transformation and directly implementing AI agents.

AI is enabling manufacturing firms to shift from competition based on low cost and stable quality to one centered on production flexibility. By integrating AI into design, production, procurement, quality inspection, supply chain coordination, scheduling, and equipment maintenance, companies are enhancing their ability to handle small-batch and customized orders.

Currently, some AI agents have achieved a high degree of autonomous decision-making, while others remain in the phase of supporting human decision-making. It is expected that within the next 12 to 18 months, further progress toward autonomy will be made. This trend aligns with China’s “Artificial Intelligence Plus” strategy, which aims to integrate AI into 90% of economic sectors by 2030.
