"The large-scale protests currently taking place in the US may be an attempt by the 'deep state' to stage a color revolution within its own country," said Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special representative of the Russian President, on social media platform X.

He wrote, "When the 'Hands Off!' protests are organized so orderly, it naturally raises questions: Is the deep state trying to apply the methods it has used for color revolutions overseas to its own country?"

Earlier reports indicated that the demands of the protesters were mainly against US President Trump's policies as well as the newly implemented import tariffs.
