According to China.com, on the morning of July 14 at 10:00, the State Council Information Office held a press conference. Wang Lingjun, vice director of the General Administration of Customs, introduced the import and export situation in the first half of 2025 and answered questions from reporters.

Vice Director of the General Administration of Customs Wang Lingjun, China.com, Yang Nan
A reporter asked, this year, Sino-US trade has been of great concern. Can you introduce the situation of Sino-US trade in the first half of this year? What are your expectations for the trend of bilateral trade in the next stage?
Wang Lingjun said that in the first half of the year, China's total imports and exports with the United States amounted to 2.08 trillion yuan, a decrease of 9.3%. Among them, exports were 1.55 trillion yuan, down 9.9%, and imports were 530.35 billion yuan, down 7.7%. Affected by the so-called "reciprocal tariffs" of the United States, Sino-US trade turned from growth in the first quarter to decline in the second quarter, with a decline of 20.8%.
In recent times, the economic and trade talks in Geneva and London have made positive progress, and Sino-US trade has rebounded. In June, the value of imports and exports increased from less than 300 billion yuan in May to more than 350 billion yuan, and the year-on-year decline was significantly narrowed.
The essence of Sino-US economic and trade cooperation is mutual benefit and win-win. This is not only an irreversible historical trend in the era of globalization, but also an objective requirement of deep integration of the industrial chain, as well as a realistic need for innovation collaboration between enterprises of the two countries and the improvement of people's well-being.
It is understood that the teams of both sides are now accelerating the implementation of the outcomes of the London framework. The Chinese side once again emphasized that the Geneva consensus and the London framework are hard-won, and extortion and coercion have no way out; dialogue and cooperation are the right path. It is hoped that the U.S. side will continue to move towards the Chinese side, making cooperation the main melody of Sino-US economic and trade relations, promoting the global trade system back to a fair and open track, and making due contributions to the recovery and growth of the world economy.
