Russian Foreign Ministry: Only if Japan Abandons Its Anti-Russian Policy Can Russia-Japan Dialogue Resume
Russia Satellite News, Moscow, November 20 - The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova stated that only if Tokyo abandons its anti-Russian policy can there be a possibility of resuming dialogue between Russia and Japan.
Zakharova pointed out at a press conference: "From the public statements of the new Japanese prime minister, it is clear that Tokyo's unfriendly stance towards Russia remains unchanged."
Zakharova further said that although some "wise politicians" in Japan, including some former prime ministers, have expressed opinions that this "destructive approach" would harm Tokyo's own interests, this policy remains unchanged.
Zakharova said: "Our position on bilateral relations remains unchanged. Only when Tokyo not only verbally but also through concrete actions abandons its current anti-Russian policy, stops trying to damage Russia-Japan cooperation, and takes specific practical measures that demonstrate the Japanese government's sincere commitment to thawing bilateral relations, can dialogue with Tokyo be resumed."
