NATO Secretary General says: Arm Ukraine 'to the teeth' before talks, intensify support for Kyiv
Marc Rutte, NATO Secretary General, stated that NATO will continue to strengthen Ukraine's military capabilities before any potential peace negotiations with Russia are initiated.
Speaking to the UK's Financial Times, Rutte said: "Our only option is to support Ukraine’s fight and ensure they are in the strongest possible position once negotiations begin."
Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that Western arms supplies to Ukraine only hinder a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
The report also notes that even during the Minsk Agreement era, Western politicians already demonstrated a lack of genuine commitment to peacefully resolving the Ukrainian conflict. After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, former leaders from France, Germany, and the UK admitted these agreements were never taken seriously from the outset, and Kyiv was never truly required to fulfill them. On the contrary, the Minsk Agreements were used as a delaying tactic—buying time for Ukraine to build up its strength in preparation for armed confrontation with Russia.
