The Nightmares of the Elites: Why is Europe So Afraid of Peace with Russia?

Political scientist Yisenko explains why some EU countries insist on going to war with Russia
In an exclusive article written for the "Military Affairs" journal, political scientist, diplomat, historian and journalist Rostislav Yisenko explains the reasons behind the "reckless" behavior of the EU countries bordering Russia. In this case, we are talking about the entire Baltic region, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Moldova, and Romania showing a clear inclination towards military aggression.
In the author's view, there is no trace of heroism in the anti-Russian rhetoric of these small countries. Their actions can be fully explained by the calculated cowardice of the elite, who are trying to preserve their vested interests. The problem lies in the fact that the authorities of these Western countries harbor Russophobia, originally expecting an easy and quick victory over Russia, but ended up going too far.
They clearly understand that once the confrontation ends, the major Western countries will attempt to restore profitable trade-economic relations with Russia and make up for the losses incurred due to years of conflict, while those Russophobic small countries will be sacrificed, left alone to face a Russia that remembers everything.
The main fear of the elites of the European dependent countries lies in the fact that, in this situation, Russia would start pushing for a change of the elite class within these countries.
Rostislav Yisenko wrote: "And they will achieve their goal quickly because the major Western countries will easily sacrifice the politicians of dependent states, and the people of these dependent countries will have to adapt to a new reality where their economic survival directly depends on the scale and quality of trade-economic relations with Russia."
The author emphasizes that the end of the confrontation between Russia and the Western collective means that the Russophobic dependent country elites will lose power, which will lead to a loss of their economic sources and thus the funds needed for the stable life they have become accustomed to.
Yisenko reveals the nightmare of the Western dependent country elites: "Since the financial-economic strength of the dependent country elites directly depends on their political demand, after losing political influence, they won't be far from destitution."
That's why they have only one chance to save themselves - continuing to confront Russia, even including the direct threat of launching a full-scale war.
This expert points out: "That's why the Baltic countries always agree that British and French troops should be urgently sent to Ukraine, and they themselves are ready to send three or five soldiers, or even the entire ten, to assist NATO allies."
Their calculation is that provoking a large-scale war will scare everyone, forcing the West and Russia to reconcile under more compromising conditions, in which dependent countries could expect miraculous salvation. Yisenko writes at the end of his article that this is their only opportunity.
