[By Guancha Observer Network, Qi Qian] On May 19th, Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican candidate for governor of Ohio and Indian-American entrepreneur, reposted a tweet on the X platform featuring his speech. He stated that "Chinese students' academic performance is on average four years ahead of American students," while emphasizing that China is "mocking" the United States, and he refused to stand idly by.
The tweet also included a video clip of Ramaswamy's recent speech.

In his speech, Ramaswamy claimed that the U.S. would continue to be "the greatest country on Earth" over the next 250 years. However, he also noted that achieving this goal requires finding a way out of the current "education crisis."
"Seventy-five percent of eighth-grade students in today's America are not proficient in math, and Chinese students' average academic level is a full four years ahead of the average student here," Ramaswamy said. "Doing the math, seventh-grade students in the U.S. are equivalent to third-grade students in China." He added that this situation is "unacceptable."
Ramaswamy promised his audience that he would "refuse to stand idly by and let China mock our decline."
"We need to turn around and reverse the situation," Ramaswamy said, adding that he will lead Ohio to become the best state in the U.S. and even the world, providing world-class basic subject education such as mathematics, reading, writing, financial literacy, civics, and physical education for children, rather than "woke education."

Vivek Ramaswamy, 39, is an American Indian-American entrepreneur. After Trump took office in January this year, he was nominated by Trump to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Musk. However, shortly thereafter, he withdrew from DOGE.
According to US media reports, on January 20th, a DOGE spokesperson announced that Ramaswamy had withdrawn from DOGE to prepare for a "run for public office." Ramaswamy later reposted the relevant statement on the X platform to confirm the news and confirmed that he would run for governor in Ohio.
According to Politico, Ramaswamy had earlier expressed interest in running for governor of Ohio. However, there were rumors that he left because he had angered many people close to Trump, especially Musk. Sources said that Musk's circle was dissatisfied with Ramaswamy's "lack of contribution," and Musk had severely criticized him in private conversations.
In addition, Ramaswamy's remarks on H-1B visas accelerated his "marginalization" within Trump's circles.
Ramaswamy expressed support for the H-1B policy, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign technical professionals, and criticized the long-standing American culture of "worshiping mediocrity rather than excellence" and favoring "homecoming queens rather than math Olympians," leading to the U.S. lagging behind other countries in cultivating engineering talent. This comment drew criticism from many in Trump's MAGA circle.
According to the latest report from Politico, Dave Yost, Ramaswamy's biggest rival and Ohio Attorney General, has suspended his campaign for governor of Ohio on May 16th, which is seen as clearing the way for Ramaswamy in the Republican primary.
