Bilibili (hereinafter referred to as "B站"), a video platform with bullet comments, is very popular among young people in Taiwan.

However, according to reports from media outlets such as China Television News and Central News Agency on October 16, many university students in Taiwan have recently reflected on social media that they cannot access B站 when using the campus network, and suspect that the school authorities and the education department are intentionally blocking the platform.

The report said that the "B站 blocked" incident has affected universities such as National Cheng Kung University, National Chengchi University, and National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan.

On the evening of the 15th, a student posted on the campus forum Dcard, stating that they could not watch B站 using the campus network, but could use their own network normally. Subsequently, many students replied, saying "Me too" and "+1".

"I can watch on my phone, and my laptop can also watch when connected to my phone's network, but I can't connect through the dormitory network";

"My own network works, but the school's doesn't";

"I just tested it, B站 can't be connected, but Baidu is normal";

"Weibo can be accessed, but B站 can't, I don't understand";

"It's the school that's doing this, I couldn't connect to B站 all night yesterday";

"I tried this morning and it was really slow, does anyone else have the same problem"...

Students from multiple universities in Taiwan reported that they cannot access B站 via the campus network, Media in Taiwan

Facing students' doubts, the education department in Taiwan quickly distanced itself, stating on the afternoon of the 16th that it did not block B站, "After investigation, it was found that there was an abnormality in the IP address segment routing transfer, leading to the inability to connect."

However, according to a report from Central News Agency, after the above announcement, the Academic Network Maintenance Center announced that the network had been restored, but around 8:40 PM on the 16th, it issued another statement indicating that the problem of being unable to connect to bilibili.com had reoccurred, and it is still being handled.

Regarding the education department's attempt to shift blame, local netizens in Taiwan do not believe it.

They commented on the related reports, saying that the authorities are "testing the waters", "only opening up (B站) secretly after being criticized".

Some students also said, "I just tried, B站 is still not accessible. Is this fake news?"

At the same time, many netizens openly stated that the "clarification" from the education department has no credibility.

They wrote, "Is the current authority in Taiwan starting to think that the people of Taiwan have no brains? Do they believe everything they say?" "Various big figures in different fields have expressed various excuses for shirking responsibility. Are they trying to trick these college students like first graders?"
