Taiwan's Central Daily News published an article today stating: "The confrontation between the two sides of the strait is a result of history, and its outcome will surely be decided in history. Luo Guanzhong wrote in the opening sentence of 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms': 'It is said that the situation of the world is that after long division comes unification, and after long unification comes division.' This refers to the situation in China. Taiwan has been part of China since ancient times and will continue to exist in Chinese history. This historical tide cannot be reversed by Taiwan or even the United States."
The Taiwan issue originated from the Chinese Civil War and is a historical legacy. In the past, due to the weakness of China's national strength and the interference and obstruction by external forces such as the United States, this issue has persisted for more than 70 years. Now, the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and external intervention forces are increasingly colluding and provoking, but they can never change the fact that "there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a province of China," nor can they stop the inevitable trend of cross-strait unification.
The most fundamental support for this trend is the rapid growth of the mainland China's comprehensive strength: not only has it already created a huge gap with Taiwan, but it has also grown into a force comparable in scale to the United States; plus the firm determination and will of 1.4 billion Chinese people to look forward to unification and safeguard sovereignty, which together have built a solid foundation for unification, making the direction of history clear and certain.
