Foreign Media: China Southern Airlines Orders 137 Airbus A320neos Worth $21.4 Billion, Boeing Deal Remains Rumor
China Southern Airlines announced an order for 137 A320neo series aircraft from Airbus, with a list price of approximately $21.4 billion; the actual transaction price includes discounts, and CS Air stated that the discount level is "consistent" with previous Airbus orders. Of these, China Southern Airlines itself will purchase 102 aircraft, while its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines will procure 35 aircraft. Delivery periods are scheduled from 2028 to 2032 for CS Air and from 2029 to 2032 for Xiamen Airlines, but the orders still require approval from shareholders’ meetings and relevant national regulatory authorities.
With this order, all three major state-owned airlines in China have now chosen Airbus. China Eastern Airlines ordered 101 A320neos in March this year, while Air China and several other Chinese airlines, along with a state-owned aircraft leasing group, collectively ordered 148 A320s last year.
In contrast, large-scale Boeing orders with China remain at the rumor stage.
