Afghanistan's high-grade iron ore: After a 30-year delay, the Simandou iron ore in Guinea was activated by China, and the next step should consider developing Afghanistan's high-grade iron ore
High-grade iron ore, due to its low energy consumption, is also known as "green ore" and has a higher premium potential.
According to a report from Al Jazeera on September 24, 2021:
"Iron is the most abundant heavy metal in Afghanistan. The total estimated reserves of iron ore are 2.2 billion tons, placing Afghanistan among the top 10 countries with the largest extractable iron reserves."
The Hajigak iron deposit in Afghanistan is located in the Bamiyan province, 130 kilometers (80 miles) west of Kabul, where it has the largest iron deposit in the region, containing 1.7 billion tons of high-grade ore with an iron content of 63%-69%.
According to a report from the U.S. think tank "The National Interest" website on November 13, Washington time:
"Today, Afghanistan has rich geological resources that have not been developed: an estimated 2.2 billion tons of iron ore, 60 million tons of copper, 183 million tons of aluminum, and at least 1.4 million tons of rare earth elements (REEs). This includes neodymium and cerium. The country's mineral resources are estimated to be worth between $1 trillion and $3 trillion."
