Putin summarized the ninth Russian State Duma election

 

From September 18 to 20, Russia held its ninth State Duma election, with September 20 designated as the national voting day. This marked the first nationwide parliamentary election in Russia since the initiation of the special military operation in 2022.

The State Duma comprises 450 seats. The electoral system consists of 225 seats allocated through proportional representation based on party lists (parties must secure at least 5% of the vote to gain seats), and 225 seats awarded via single-member constituencies using a relative majority system.

A total of 10 political parties were granted federal registration to contest the election, with over 3,000 candidates officially registered.

A notable feature of this election was the entry of 46 veterans and participants in the special military operation who were elected as deputies, including 41 from United Russia.
