[Iranian Military Personnel Have Arrived in Yemen]
According to Reuters, commanders and military advisors from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) arrived in Yemen in July, directly assisting in enhancing the Houthi group's capability to threaten Red Sea shipping. It is reported that on July 13, a flight originally scheduled to fly from Iran to Sana'a was attacked by Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia at the airport—an incident that served as a catalyst for the Houthis' recent announcement of a "maritime blockade." However, Saudi Arabia's sudden action was primarily due to the fact that the aircraft carried between 10 and 21 IRGC personnel, including high-ranking officers.
Sources revealed: The IRGC personnel came specifically to support the Houthis’ maritime operations, providing training on new missile systems, while the aircraft also carried gold intended to fund the Houthis’ regional military activities.
Iranian sources further stated: Due to the attack on July 13, the plane was forced to divert to Hudaydah, which is under Houthi control and also a key coastal stronghold through which the Houthis have been harassing and disrupting Red Sea shipping.
Although the Houthis denied the report, Reuters noted that three days after the plane’s arrival in Yemen, Iran reportedly urged the Houthis to prepare for "closing Red Sea shipping"—a coincidence that seems highly unlikely.
Yemeni government officials and intelligence analysts based in Aden stated: According to their intelligence, Iranian military personnel accompanied by relevant military equipment have already arrived in areas controlled by the Houthis, preparing for actions threatening Red Sea shipping. On the July 13 flight, in addition to IRGC members and gold, there were also some missiles.
