Mongolia will build an inland port with an annual throughput of 7 million tons in "Hun New City"

Mongolian News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, January 30th, the coordinator for finance, economy and development projects in the capital, Lu Houshayaer, led relevant officials to meet with the Italian Export-Import Bank delegation on January 29th.

With 2026 declared as the "Year of Supporting Entrepreneurs", Mongolia plans to cooperate with the Italian Export-Import Bank under the public-private partnership framework on large-scale projects such as "Hun New City", "Ulaanbaatar Tram", and "Sludge Incineration Plant".

The full representative of the mayor of Hun New City, Mi Batbayar, stated that "Hun New City, the first satellite city built around the Hesigou Basin International Airport, will establish a comprehensive transportation and logistics center within an area of 1,019 hectares. Approximately 400 hectares will be planned as a transportation and logistics zone, integrating the existing railway freight terminals in Ulaanbaatar. Specifically, it is planned to complete an integrated warehouse and customs inspection complex with an annual throughput of 7 million tons by 2040, and develop it into an inland port."
