Foreign media: China is preparing to apply its successful industrial policy experiences in fields such as electric vehicles, solar energy, and artificial intelligence to the areas of agriculture and food self-sufficiency.
The consulting report "The Future of China's Food" indicates that China has the capability to drive advancements in technologies such as synthetic biology, novel protein sources, genetically modified crops, seed development, and fermentation ingredients through policy coordination, rapid mobilization of capital, and large-scale production, while simultaneously building domestic innovation clusters. China plans to reduce soybean imports, improve farmland quality, develop aquaculture, construct vertical livestock farms, and enhance agricultural infrastructure.
The report warns that major agricultural exporters such as the United States, Brazil, and New Zealand should seek alternative markets early to prepare for the potentially significant changes that may arise from shifts in the Chinese market.
