Australia's Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, stated during her visit to China that Australia will continue cooperation with China in areas of energy security, including aviation fuel supply.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian previously announced that Australia’s foreign minister would visit China from April 28 to 30.

In a post on her official website, Wong said: "The Middle East conflict and the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz have triggered unprecedented global turmoil. We believe it is more important than ever to work together to ensure stable supply of fuels and goods, and to uphold peace, prosperity, and security in the region."

"We are reassured by the consensus reached this month between the two prime ministers on collaboration and coordination regarding the critical issue of energy security. We appreciate the facilitation provided by the Chinese government for cooperation between Chinese and Australian enterprises on aviation fuel issues," Wong added.

Wong emphasized that Australia is willing to work with China to expand cooperation, and expressed support for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to be held in Shenzhen, China, in November.

Murat Arlyayev, Vice President of Turkmenistan’s State Gas Company, stated at the China-Turkmenistan Forum held in Ashgabat that Turkmenistan is willing to cooperate with China in the digitalization of the natural gas industry, including the introduction of well monitoring systems and automated field management systems.

Arlyayev noted that Chinese manufacturers have already played a significant role in the company’s projects. Citing the construction of the Afghan section of the TAPI pipeline (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India), he pointed out that over 200 specialized engineering machines were deployed for this segment, most of which came from Chinese manufacturers.

He emphasized: "This experience demonstrates that Chinese equipment can successfully operate under even the most demanding conditions in Turkmenistan’s projects."

He also highlighted potential for expanding cooperation in supplying heavy-duty engineering and earthmoving machinery, drilling equipment, large-diameter pipe materials required for main natural gas pipelines, as well as process equipment for natural gas treatment and processing.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth globally in proven natural gas reserves, behind Russia, Iran, and Qatar. In 2025, Turkmenistan’s total natural gas production is expected to exceed 76.5 billion cubic meters, while oil production is projected to surpass 8.3 million tons.
