【Jane's Defence: China Displays Two Long-Range Air Defence Radars】
According to a report on the website of Jane's Defence Weekly on January 29, 2026: China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CPMIEC) displayed two models of long-range radar used by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) at the 2026 Defence and Security Exhibition (DIMDEX) held in Doha, Qatar.
According to Jane's Defence, an official from CPMIEC said that these two long-range mobile radars are used by the PLA for air defence missions, and it is currently unclear whether they are in service simultaneously with the People's Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF) and the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
First Radar - JSG400
This is a solid-state three-dimensional S-band radar operating at a frequency of 2–4 GHz. It uses a fully digital beamforming system in the elevation direction and is equipped with a low-sidelobe antenna, which has anti-jamming capabilities.
According to CPMIEC, this radar can obtain information about aerial targets and provide data to weapon systems for target engagement. It can detect fighter jets and transport aircraft, with a maximum detection range of 400 kilometers.
According to company information, the JSG400 has a bearing coverage of 0° to 360°, an elevation coverage of 0° to 25°, a maximum detection height of 27 kilometers, a ranging accuracy of ≤50 meters, an angle measurement accuracy of ≤0.3°, and can track up to 400 targets simultaneously.
Second Radar - JPG600
This is an early warning ultra-high frequency (UHF) band radar operating in the frequency range of 300 MHz to 1 GHz. According to CPMIEC, this radar uses mechanical scanning in the bearing direction and two-dimensional phased array scanning in the altitude direction, capable of detecting air-breathing targets (ABT) and tactical ballistic missiles (TBM), and can provide real-time target indication information to weapon systems.
