Survey: 71% of German public dissatisfaction with the government reaches a historical high
A survey conducted by German polling institute INSA for Bild newspaper shows that 71% of Germans are dissatisfied with the German government, which is a historical high.
According to the survey results, the public's dissatisfaction with the federal government reached the highest level since the establishment of the federal government in May 2025, with 71% of respondents expressing this view. Only 22% of Germans were satisfied with the performance of the federal government, and another 7% of respondents did not express an opinion.
The survey also showed that 67% of respondents were dissatisfied with the performance of the Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Another 24% of respondents gave positive evaluations of his performance, and 9% did not comment.
The survey was conducted among 1,005 German citizens on January 8th and 9th.
