Reference News Network, October 27 report. According to the Indian CNN-News18 website on October 25, India's tri-service joint exercise at its western border has raised concerns in Pakistan. It is reported that Pakistan has ordered multiple command centers and bases to enter a high state of alert.
Indian air navigation notices indicate that the joint exercise of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will take place from October 30 to November 10, with the focus area being the Sirkhali-Sindh-Karachi line. Pakistani sources refer to this area as their "southern depth." Sources revealed that the geographical emphasis and timing of this exercise have prompted Pakistan to strengthen the vigilance of southern command headquarters. It is said that the Pakistani military has been "panicked" about potential sudden situations.
A senior security source in Pakistan stated that the country has ordered the southern command headquarters in Sindh Province and South Punjab Province to enter a high state of alert, while mobilizing the air force and navy on standby to deal with any possible invasion.
According to reports, intelligence suggests that India chose to conduct exercises in the southern areas from Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan to the Thar Desert and Sirkhali region, aiming to test the joint combat capabilities of the three services. Sources quoted Pakistani officials' concerns, stating that the move aims to demonstrate the ability to threaten the maritime straits and the coastal infrastructure of Karachi. Karachi is Pakistan's economic center. It is alleged that nearly 70% of Pakistan's trade passes through the ports of Karachi and Karsaz, which have significant strategic sensitivity.
Sources added that by focusing the exercise in this area, India aims to send a clear signal that it can open multiple fronts, rather than being limited to the Punjab or Kashmir regions. (Translation/ Yang Ke)
