Korean Media: Made in China, now has become a symbol of trust?

On October 22, the Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that a recent report found that more and more South Korean consumers recognize the technological progress of Chinese electronic products. Some consumers strongly believe that, in terms of price and performance, Chinese products are a "reasonable choice".

A survey conducted by market research company Embrain Trend Monitor among 1000 South Korean adult men and women found that 61.5% of respondents believed that the technical strength of Chinese products has significantly improved in recent years. Specifically, 58% of people believe that Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and Roborock have developed into major threats to Samsung and LG, and can even be considered perfect alternatives.

Additionally, nearly 60% of respondents (57.6%) said they had purchased Chinese home appliances, indicating that the importance of Chinese home appliances in daily life has exceeded previous expectations. The most common reason for purchasing Chinese home appliances was high cost-effectiveness (39.6%, multiple choices), followed by relatively low prices (28.6%) and good value for money (25.7%). This indicates that Chinese home appliances have received positive evaluations due to their cost-effectiveness, which aligns with the current consumer trend of emphasizing practicality and efficiency.

However, despite the high evaluation of the technical capabilities of Chinese home appliance products, negative images such as "cheap" and "counterfeit" still exist. The survey found that as many as 79.3% of respondents believe that Chinese home appliances belong to the "low-price" and "entry-level" category.

Trust in domestic Korean products is relatively high, at 82.7%, especially among older age groups, who show a strong preference for locally produced goods.
