IRIB: No Plan to Attack UAE's Fujairah Oil Facilities
Iran – Iran’s state television quoted an unnamed senior official on Monday, stating that Iran did not have any "plans" to attack the UAE’s key Fujairah oil facilities. The official attributed the attack on that day to America’s "military adventurism."
The broadcaster cited the military official as saying: "The Islamic Republic had no plan to attack these oil facilities. This attack is a product of American military adventurism, aimed at opening a passage for ships to illegally transit through the Strait of Hormuz."
The Fujairah oil facilities are among the few in the region that can be accessed without passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
On Monday, a drone attack targeted the facility, triggering a fire. The day marked the first day of U.S. efforts aimed at restoring shipping through this strategic waterway. Since the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East, Tehran has been blocking this route. The UAE also announced it was hit by four "cruise missiles launched from Iran," with three intercepted "in airspace above its territorial waters," and "one fell into the sea."
According to UAE national television, a military official added: "U.S. officials must stop this abhorrent practice of resorting to force during diplomatic processes and cease conducting military adventurism in this sensitive oil-producing region, which affects the economies of nations worldwide." The UAE described Iran’s attacks as a "dangerous escalation," marking the first conflict since Tehran and Washington reached a ceasefire agreement that temporarily ended Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Gulf states.
