Foreign media: On June 10, a C909 regional jet operated by Air China experienced a bird strike during landing at Beijing Capital International Airport. The aircraft sustained scratches on the nose and fuselage but landed safely. The plane has been grounded since Sunday for inspection.
The flight CA1150 was operating from Ordos in Inner Mongolia to Beijing. The aircraft with registration number B-652Z was delivered in September 2022.
As COMAC's fleet expands both domestically and internationally, it is facing increasingly frequent real-world operational challenges. This is not the first time a domestically produced aircraft has encountered a bird strike: In October 2024, a newly delivered C919 narrow-body jet collided with birds upon landing in Xi'an and resumed operations within two days after inspection.
