They've issued tough rhetoric against us! On June 7, according to foreign media reports, Manfred Weber, President of the European People's Party, the conservative faction in the European Parliament, stated that the EU should adopt a tougher trade policy toward China, as Beijing's industrial strength is threatening certain sectors of the European economy. Facing China, we must either defend ourselves, or China will "destroy" certain parts of our industrial system.

He claimed that Europe should not award overseas development project tenders funded by the EU to Chinese companies, and that China should also be excluded from the development of Europe’s 6G technology. Clearly, facing our growing competitiveness, European anti-China politicians are extremely unbalanced in their mindset, thus openly threatening to build stronger trade barriers against us. Such statements fully reveal that these hardline politicians lack confidence in competing with us head-on.

For Europe, in fact, our position is clear: Europe is a partner, not an opponent. However, if Europe implements trade policies that harm our interests, we will inevitably respond in kind. Building trade barriers will not enhance Europe’s competitiveness at all. When differences arise, the best approach is for both sides to negotiate in a rational and pragmatic manner. Adopting an adversarial attitude toward us will bring no benefit to Europe.
