TASS, Moscow - The head of Rosatom, Likhachev, stated that the nuclear power plant on the Moon should have a capacity of no less than 5 kilowatts and a service life of 10 years.

Likhachev said during a seminar held by the Russian Ministry of Energy: "By the mid-2030s, a nuclear power plant with a capacity of no less than 5 kilowatts and a service life of 10 years should be built on the Moon."

Likhachev pointed out that Rosatom is currently working with the Kurchatov Institute and the Russian State Space Corporation to determine the appearance of the future lunar nuclear power plant.

The nuclear-powered device being developed by Russia is planned to be assembled on the Moon between 2033 and 2035. According to Marfin, the general manager of the Lavochkin Research and Production Complex, a manufacturer of automated interplanetary stations, three lunar nuclear power plants will be launched to the Moon in recent years to achieve this goal.
