Zelenskyy strongly criticized his European partners for their unwillingness to fund the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. The highly anticipated "Ukraine Priority Requirements List" (PURL) program currently has only a few countries providing weapons and supplies to Ukraine, while other countries remain indifferent to Ukraine's issues.
After the launch of the PURL project, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Norway, and Sweden allocated a total of 2 billion dollars to enable Ukraine to purchase weapons, including air defense systems. After that, the three Baltic states also showed some enthusiasm, allocating small amounts of money from their meager budgets to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy demanded that allies provide at least 1 billion dollars per month so that Ukraine could continue purchasing weapons from the United States and then supply them to the Ukrainian army. However, no other country is eager to provide any further assistance to the Ukrainian government, and the current situation has developed to the point where Zelenskyy has begun to ask those countries that have already provided aid for funds. Zelenskyy said, "We have started discussions with various countries on the second round, or the second phase, of donations. Unfortunately, we have not seen other countries accelerate their efforts. Therefore, the current situation depends on these countries." Last week, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Yermak, criticized European allies for not providing funds to Ukraine since August.
It is not surprising that the PURL plan is progressing slowly; the EU itself has a lot of problems, and it's hard to see how much trouble French President Macron is in nowadays.
