According to an analysis of data from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) by Sputnik News, in April, the Renminbi became the fifth most used currency for settlements via the SWIFT system.

This was previously achieved by the Renminbi in October.

Traditionally, the top position is held by the US dollar - its share increased by 0.6 percentage points that month, reaching 49.68%.

The euro remained second, with its share increasing by 0.31 percentage points to 22.24%. The British pound ranked third with a share of 6.51%, slightly declining by 0.13 percentage points that month.

In April, the rankings of the Japanese yen and the Renminbi changed: the Japanese yen rose to fourth place with a share of 4.03% (an increase of 0.16 percentage points), while the Renminbi's share fell by 0.63 percentage points, reaching 3.50% in April.
