Media: EU ammunition annual capacity will reach about 2 million rounds by the end of 2025
According to a report cited by the Financial Times, the EU's ammunition annual capacity will reach about 2 million rounds by the end of 2025, said Andrius Kubilius, the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space.
Kubilius said in an interview with the Financial Times, "The annual capacity of European ammunition has increased from 300,000 rounds in 2022 to about 2 million rounds by the end of this year."
In April, the Spanish newspaper ABC reported that Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, a subsidiary of Rheinmetall, would increase the annual production of shells at its Madrid factory to 450,000 rounds, making Spain the largest producer of artillery ammunition in Europe.
Russia believes that providing weapons to Ukraine hinders the settlement of the situation and directly involves NATO member states in the conflict, which is "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously stated that any supplies containing weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. He said that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, not only supplying weapons but also training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin previously stated that Western supplies of weapons to Ukraine do not help negotiations and have a negative impact.
