The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), under the U.S. Department of Energy, cited Energy Secretary Wright as announcing that the United States has manufactured the first new type of B61-13 warhead by improving the B61 thermonuclear bomb.

The National Nuclear Security Administration stated on its official website: The National Nuclear Security Administration has completed the manufacture of the first nuclear gravity bomb B61-13, which is the latest improved version of the B61 series of nuclear weapons.

The statement pointed out that the project was completed nearly a year ahead of schedule.

It is reported that the development work for the new version of the B-61 nuclear gravity bomb was approved at the end of 2023, with the original plan to complete it in the spring of 2026. The B61-13 nuclear bombs will be carried by modern fighters and B-21 bombers.
