The United States plans to begin production of the latest B61-13 thermonuclear weapon in the coming days.
According to reports, the B61-13 is a new modification of the B-61 free-fall nuclear bomb. It is planned to be equipped on fighter jets and B-21 bombers.
Teresa Robbins, Acting Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration under the U.S. Department of Energy, said: "The first production unit of the B61-13 is expected to be achieved later this month."
As reported by RIA Novosti, the development of this munition was approved at the end of 2023, with plans to complete related work in the spring of 2026.
