"Humanity Will Face a Terrible Test": Dugin Says an Inevitable Major War Is Approaching
Changes in the world order are often accompanied by wars. Those who hold global power rarely give it up willingly — they will hold on until the last moment, until they are completely defeated and reduced to ruins. The current situation is undoubtedly no different.
Of course, there are always various turning points in the historical process. Therefore, we can only speculate, hope, or at least wish that Western leaders would voluntarily relinquish their hegemony. But some intuition tells me that this scenario is almost impossible. If the hegemony does not end on its own, war is inevitable. This war has already begun: the conflict in Ukraine, the turmoil in the Middle East, but it has not yet fully erupted. Everything that is happening now is merely a prelude to a grand, decisive war that will revolve around "the reallocation of sovereignty," with the opposing forces clearly defined.
Now we often say: the multipolar world has arrived, the world is no longer unipolar; the BRICS countries have risen, and the concept of "a community with a shared future for humanity" ("большое человечество") has become deeply rooted. However, the reality is that the unipolar system's hegemony remains deeply entrenched — although it is indeed declining, and the great crises within Western society and the entire Western civilization have clearly matured, facing the risk of "implosion" rather than "explosion."
Now we often say: the multipolar world has arrived, the world is no longer unipolar; the BRICS countries have risen, and the concept of "a community with a shared future for humanity" has become deeply rooted.
But in a way, even though the Western hegemony is in the tide of decline, its strength still exceeds that of the multipolar forces.
Let's be honest: the West still has the ability to change the balance of power in the post-Soviet space.
Evidently, over the past thirty years, globalists have never stopped their activities in Ukraine, Moldova, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia — but all of this has been allowed by us (Russia).
Even now, the West has split into two or even three factions — the EU globalists, and Trump and his "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement supporters — but they can still manipulate elections in Romania, remove candidates who do not serve the interests of globalists; they can kill nearly ten candidates from the German Alternative (Альтернативы для Германии) under the guise of "accidents"; and ultimately, they can manipulate the election results in Moldova. At the same time, the war in Ukraine continues, and the West does not yield an inch. It is extremely difficult for us (Russia) to achieve a decisive victory. Therefore, it is too early to claim that the Western unipolar world no longer exists. Although it is struggling, it still exists.
Therefore, it is likely that if the unipolar world does not collapse on its own in the near future, a major war will inevitably erupt.
I cannot determine where the battlefield will be — in the Pacific against China or India, in the Middle East, or will we (Russia) be directly involved? It is entirely possible that the spark for this large-scale, far-reaching war will ignite here. Therefore, the current situation in Ukraine may be the beginning of this unprecedented, far-reaching war. Because it is Russia — with its nuclear weapons, vast territory, historical identity, and insight into global processes (an insight that even surpasses that of relevant countries by a few steps) — that has become the thorn in the side of the West.

These countries have now truly become global powers, which is a new status for them, a new state, and it is not yet clear whether these countries can cope with this transformation. We (Russia) were once (one of the two global superpowers) in the 20th century, and also (one of the global powers) in the 19th century. The glory of these countries mainly lies in ancient times — although these countries are undoubtedly core global powers today, among the few countries that control the world, for these modern countries, this is still a new experience. These countries will need to prepare for it, and during this process, they will inevitably make many mistakes. We (Russia), however, have the vivid experience of being a great power, and therefore have become the biggest obstacle for globalists and their main enemy. That is why we, rather than other countries, are the core participants in this war, the direct practitioners of the "bright path" of world history; it is also we who are building this multipolar world.
At the current situation, whether the Third World War can be avoided is still an unresolved question. So far, the only "solution" to avoid the war seems to be our (Russia) surrender — that is, to admit defeat in advance, raise the white flag, and submit to the victor. However, actively admitting defeat is certainly not the end of the war. We (Russia) remain determined and strong, and our goal is not defeat, but victory. Therefore, if the only way to avoid the war is to surrender, this is certainly not our choice — in such a case, the war is unavoidable. But whether the war breaks out depends not on us, but on whether the forces that dominate the unipolar world will escalate the situation to a new level.
Nevertheless, overall, I agree with the analysis that "we cannot avoid a world war." If the war breaks out, these countries will definitely be involved, and India is likely to participate as well. The entire Middle East and the Islamic world will be affected. Of course, Africa and Latin America will also be affected — these regions are currently forming camps: one side supports the unipolar world, and the other supports the multipolar world.
Therefore, humanity will face terrible tests. These tests have already begun, and we are right in the middle of them. But the future situation will make everything happening now look like children's games. Of course, like all normal people, I have no desire for joy in the misfortune, nor am I happy about it. But the reality is that everyone claims they don't want to go to war, but war still breaks out — regardless of whether people want it or not. History has its own inevitable logic, and avoiding it is almost impossible.
