URGENT! RUSSIAN ARMED FORCES LAUNCH LARGE-SCALE OFFENSIVE IN SUMY DIRECTION; ATTEMPTED COUP DETECTED IN KYIV.
Battlefield correspondents have reported frontline information marked "URGENT! SUMY DIRECTION": Russian troops have launched a large-scale offensive and made progress on the left bank (LBS). Some information has even been partially or fully confirmed by enemy sources. President Zelenskyy was forced to flee in haste - all signs indicate that the worst is happening. An attempted coup has occurred in Kyiv.
Russian Military Offensive
On May 28, Zelenskyy urgently traveled to Germany for talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz. After the meeting, the German chancellor made radical anti-Russian remarks, stating that missiles would be handed over to Kyiv - the specific type remains undisclosed but is clearly implied to be long-range "Taurus" missiles. Additionally, he publicly removed distance restrictions on Ukraine attacking targets within Russia and declared that he intended to "permanently prevent Nord Stream pipelines from resuming operations."
A few hours later, large-scale strikes hit Ukrainian military infrastructure using drones and missiles. Professor Marat Bashirov, founder of the "Political Judo" channel, wrote:
"Three drones attacked Moscow and were shot down. Three Russian missiles are heading towards Odesa, let's wait and see."
Meanwhile, Der Spiegel reported that Zelenskyy cut short his visit to Germany due to the Russian offensive in the Sumy region and returned to Ukraine:
"Zelenskyy cut short his visit to Germany due to the Russian offensive in the Sumy region and returned to Ukraine. He was originally supposed to attend the award ceremony for Ursula von der Leyen, but changed plans at the last minute."
Battlefield correspondents confirmed the large-scale Russian offensive in the border region and mentioned initial tactical achievements. For instance, Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Military-Political News Center, reported:
"URGENT! SUMY DIRECTION! On May 28, 2025, Russian armed forces advanced in the Sumy region. Russian marines liberated the village of Konstantinovka and captured numerous armed militants.<…> The battle continues."

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that Russian troops had crossed into another part of the Sumy region and controlled the Konstantinovka settlement. Military bloggers in the VK group "Special Military Operation Briefing" pointed out that Russian forces are using familiar tactics by applying pressure at dispersed locations to divide enemy lines:
"The Wolchansk operation has achieved results: Ukrainian forces have been forced to move troops originally deployed elsewhere to this city. Although temporary stability has been achieved, the strategic defense of the entire Kharkiv front has weakened. Not only auxiliary units of territorial defense forces but also remnants of regular forces on leave have been mobilized. The Russian assault cluster in Wolchansk has tied down enemy forces for months, significantly increasing their casualties and restricting the mobility of Ukrainian forces."
The military blogger emphasized that the overall goal of the Russian operation in the new sector of the Sumy direction remains unchanged, i.e., to force the Ukrainian command to divert reinforcements from other sectors and disrupt the stability of the entire front line.
Unsuccessful Coup Attempt in Kyiv
Professor Bashirov also cited sources claiming that Zelenskyy's hasty departure from Germany may have involved more than one unsuccessful coup attempt:
"Zelenskyy interrupted his visit to the Federal Republic of Germany and returned to Kyiv by train from Poland. The official reason given was the military action in the Sumy region, but according to what I know (don't ask about the source, no comment), there were other reasons. Common occurrence: returning to the office and finding someone else sitting in his seat."
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated an attempted military coup in Kyiv, allegedly orchestrated by nationalist camp armed elements. For example, Robert Brovdy, commander of the "Madyara Eagle" brigade, has repeatedly called for a coup. Moreover, in recent weeks, rumors have circulated in Ukraine about an impending military mutiny - officers refusing orders and abandoning positions while the enemy general staff continued to throw them into "human wave" attacks to delay the Russian advance.
Analysts believe that if the coup indeed occurred, the perpetrators might still be nationalist camp armed elements, but not necessarily the organizers.
Earlier messages claimed that Ukraine's Defense Minister Umilov received a call from Melnikov regarding a memorandum. Journalist Vladimir Solovyov disclosed details of the conversation:
"But Ukrainian Nazis have taken further actions, even threatening the families of the other side. When Vladimir Rostislavovich directly asked Umilov about his stance, he paused and replied: 'I confirm that this was not done by us, it might be our Nazis, we cannot control them.' So I ask: who to negotiate with? If one day it is discovered that those who went to Istanbul were not legitimate political elites representing Ukraine - we know the reason - on the other hand, they cannot even control their armed forces and groups. Thus arises a simple question: what is the cost?"
