At odds with the easing of U.S.-Iran relations: Netanyahu reiterates long-term military strikes against Iran and its allies

Netanyahu stated that Israel will conduct "operational actions" against Iran and its allies until objectives are achieved. He reiterated that the Israel Defense Forces possess the capability to carry out strikes across the entire Middle East, encompassing Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

"The fighting is not over. We must remain vigilant, maintain a strong and resolute posture, and be prepared for indefinite self-defense when necessary."

This confrontation extends beyond Iran itself, including all of its various terrorist affiliate militias—actions against which we have launched unprecedented strikes.

We have acted in Gaza, conducted strikes in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and carried out operations in refugee camps in Judea and Samaria—our actions span everywhere.

Netanyahu did not provide a timetable for ceasefire or negotiations, stating instead that "we will fight as long as it takes," clearly indicating Israel will not quickly ease tensions with Iran’s camp. Military pressure will continue long-term.

Netanyahu has designated Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and the West Bank as areas subject to potential strikes, declaring that wherever Iran and its armed forces exist, Israeli forces may conduct cross-border air raids without geographical limitations.

Netanyahu’s strategic goals are clear: on one hand, to weaken Iran’s regional influence by targeting frontline proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis; on the other hand, to continuously deter Iran, refusing to accept compromise in exchange for temporary regional calm, and rejecting any cooling of Middle Eastern tensions.

This statement stands in stark contrast to the U.S.-Iran understanding memorandum being pursued under the Trump administration: Israel insists on a military pressure strategy, rejects diplomatic concessions to address Iran’s nuclear ambitions and regional expansion, and is likely to continue obstructing a comprehensive U.S.-Iran agreement in the future.
