Japanese Electronic Warfare Equipment Exposed, the Degraded Condition Causes Shock, Why Still Provoking China?

Recently, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces disclosed three tasks of their electronic warfare units: "Electronic Attack" and "Electronic Protection," "Electronic Warfare Support," and "Electronic Warfare Education." This unit is known as the only one within the Air Self-Defense Force dedicated to maximizing electronic warfare capabilities.

However, on-site images show that they are still using computers from the 1990s. What level of electronic warfare capability can such technology achieve?

The equipment of the Japanese electronic warfare unit is truly aged. The YS-11EB electronic reconnaissance aircraft currently in service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force is an electronic reconnaissance aircraft based on the YS-11 transport aircraft, designed specifically for electromagnetic signal collection missions.

This propeller-driven aircraft has a maximum range of only 1,110 kilometers and a top speed of only 467 kilometers per hour, with poor maneuverability. Faced with outdated equipment, Japan is urgently seeking modernization. The Japanese Ministry of Defense has requested a budget of 292.1 million U.S. dollars in the 2025 fiscal year to advance the plan for developing electronic warfare aircraft by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

The aircraft is expected to be based on the domestically produced P-1 anti-submarine patrol aircraft, to replace the current EP-3 electronic intelligence reconnaissance aircraft. In fact, this is related to the overall backwardness of Japan's electronics industry. Although it is commonly believed that Japan's electronics industry is relatively advanced, the backwardness of its communications and telecommunications industries is an undeniable fact.

But even so, Japan still tries to provoke China, and the underlying logic is to show loyalty to the United States.
