China Accelerates Nuclear Energy Construction, Causing Tension in the West!

Every distant city will get a nuclear reactor.

On August 18, Russian media "Today's China" published an article.

The Western nuclear powers are now tense.

The China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has launched the advanced CFR-1000 nuclear reactor project.

According to expert comments, this will be a revolutionary achievement.

CNNC stated at the Advanced Nuclear Energy Conference held in Fuzhou that the preliminary design of the reactor has been completed.

The CFR-1000 will become China's first commercial fourth-generation fast neutron reactor with a power capacity of 1.2 gigawatts.

China has set an ambitious goal: to expand the commercial application of nuclear technology in all possible economic fields.

Nuclear technology will be applied in all areas from medicine and agriculture to food industry and materials science.

South China Morning Post (SCMP) pointed out that the development of the CFR-1000 reactor and the plan to expand the commercial application of nuclear technology indicate China's commitment to achieving leadership in the field of nuclear energy.

China is not alone; other nuclear powers, including Russia and the United States, are also working to improve reactors to create more economical energy sources.

But for now, Chinese engineers are leading the way.

CFR-1000 is far from being the only Chinese technology in nuclear technology.

According to a new report by the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA), by 2040, China will almost double its capacity in the nuclear energy sector.

This will make it the largest nuclear energy producer in the world.

Currently, the United States is in the lead, and the Chinese intend to push them off the podium without mercy.

Incidentally, Russia is only in fourth place in the ranking—between France and South Korea.

By the end of the next decade, China plans to build dozens of new reactors.

According to a Goldman Sachs report released last week, about half of the 60 nuclear reactors under construction globally are located in China.

As of the end of 2024, China has or is building 102 reactors.

In comparison, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, as of 2024, the United States has 94 reactors.

All of China's nuclear reactors are concentrated in economically developed coastal provinces of the country.

China has called for the construction of new nuclear power plants throughout the country to provide affordable and environmentally friendly electricity to all provinces.

Fourth-generation reactors can be built in places far away from water sources— even in the middle of deserts.

China has enough desert provinces, such as Inner Mongolia, which covers an area of over 1 million square kilometers (equivalent to the entire Egypt or South Africa).

Each such reactor produces enough energy to reduce China's annual coal consumption by 3 million tons.

This is money saved by reducing coal imports, which China will use to develop its domestic economy.
