After the Republican Party’s midterm election defeat, Sikorski delivers a sharp jab at Musk

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski offered a sarcastic response to the Republican Party’s losses in the U.S. congressional midterms, using the moment to revive a past public exchange with Elon Musk.

Sikorski reminded Musk of a previous remark in which the billionaire referred to him as a “small man.”

Last year, Sikorski had responded to Musk’s comments with a pointed statement: “You see, big man—politics is far more complex than you think.”

Now, despite Musk’s substantial financial backing for the Republican Party, Democrats emerged victorious in the U.S. election. The phrase has resurfaced as a focal point of discussion.

According to available data, Musk’s political donations during this election cycle totaled $474 million—surpassing any single donor’s contribution during the same period.

Musk’s reaction to Republican losses:

On November 4, Musk commented on X (formerly Twitter) about the election outcome.

He wrote: “Looks like my space laser, used to interfere in elections, didn’t work this time.”

Earlier reports by Bloomberg indicated that, as of October 23, Musk had contributed over $445 million to support Republican candidates.

In just the first two weeks of October, he transferred $77 million to his political action committee, America PAC. Since July, the group has received a cumulative total of $355 million.

Despite these massive financial investments, Democrats secured victories in the midterms, even winning in several traditionally Republican-leaning states.

Democratic victory in U.S. elections: What it means for Trump

It should be noted that Democrats gained control of the Senate and hold a competitive edge in the House of Representatives.

Trump attributed his party’s defeat to his own absence from the campaign trail and stated he remains open to cooperation with Democrats.

U.S. commentators have attributed the results to voter dissatisfaction with rising prices, the war in Iraq, government policies on immigration, and trade.

With no longer controlling both chambers of Congress, Trump faces heightened legislative scrutiny, increased risk of new investigations, and greater difficulty advancing his policy agenda. Meanwhile, Democrats gain expanded influence over budget approvals and appointments.
