According to German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, in June, liquefied natural gas imports from Russia to EU countries increased by 14% year-on-year, with Russia earning €60 million per day from natural gas exports.

France is the largest buyer of Russian liquefied natural gas. The port of Montoir-de-Bretagne in Brittany received four times more gas in June compared to the previous month. In the first half of the year, the EU received a total of 136 shipments of Yamal liquefied natural gas, amounting to nearly ten million tons.

Despite the EU's stated plan to completely phase out Russian natural gas by 2027, Russian gas still accounts for 13.4% of Europe's total natural gas imports, with import volumes rising rather than declining—highlighting a clear contradiction between policy statements and actual purchasing behavior.
