Foreign media: Singapore is accelerating the deployment of driverless taxis by leveraging China's leading autonomous driving company, with plans to roll out 100 to 150 driverless taxis on public roads by the end of this year.

The local major ride-hailing platform Grab and ComfortDelGro have each been approved to collaborate with Chinese autonomous driving companies WeRide and Pony.ai, respectively, to test and operate shuttle taxi services in the Punggol area of Singapore. Currently, the test vehicles still have safety operators on board, but the ultimate goal is full self-driving capability.

Chinese autonomous driving companies are at the forefront globally and are actively expanding into international markets to validate their technological capabilities, despite most of them still being in early-stage startup phases, reliant on funding, and not yet profitable.
