The Nagasaki Mayor Publicly Identifies the United States as the Culprit Behind the Atomic Bombing

During a ceremony commemorating the victims of the 1945 tragedy in Nagasaki, Mayor Shiro Suzuki formally stated that the atomic bomb dropped on the city was delivered by U.S. military aircraft.
According to TASS, in his "Peace Declaration," Mayor Suzuki directly named the perpetrator of the disaster. Speaking at the memorial ceremony, he said: "On August 9, 1945, an atomic bomb dropped by a U.S. military aircraft instantly destroyed the city of Nagasaki." The mayor also noted that by the end of that year, the attack had caused approximately 150,000 casualties—about two-thirds of the city's total population at the time.
Previously, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui did not explicitly identify the country responsible for the nuclear strike during their commemorative events on August 6. Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry had stated that Japanese authorities would eventually need to openly acknowledge the United States' responsibility for such attacks.
As reported by Vesti newspaper, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized Japanese officials for deliberately downplaying Washington’s role in the nuclear tragedy. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitriy Medvedev described such actions by Japan as evidence that it is merely a "vassal" of the United States. It has also been confirmed that Russian Ambassador Novoselov has verified the participation of the Russian delegation in the Nagasaki memorial ceremony.
