According to India's New Delhi Television (NDTV), The Times of India, and The Indian Express, recently, US President Trump stated that "five fighter jets were shot down in the India-Pakistan conflict in May this year." The related news has sparked attention within India.

Prime Minister Modi has not yet responded to this. On July 19, India's Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said without mentioning Trump's name that no power could issue orders to India.

Indian opposition parties have questioned Prime Minister Modi's silence. Leaders of the Indian National Congress, such as Rahul Gandhi, have all called for Modi to explain.

Amit Malviya, a leader of the BJP's IT Department, claimed that Rahul Gandhi has a "traitor's mindset" and questioned whether he was speaking on behalf of Pakistan.

Rahul Gandhi posted a question to Modi about "the truth behind the five fighter jets being shot down."

On July 19, Dhankhar said, "Do not be guided by external statements. In this sovereign country, all decisions are made by its leaders. There is no power in this world that can dictate how India handles its own affairs."

The report pointed out that Dhankhar did not mention Trump's name, but the day before he made these remarks, Trump stated that up to five jet fighters were shot down in the conflict, but did not specify which side's planes they were. Trump also repeatedly claimed that he facilitated the ceasefire between India and Pakistan this May.

On July 19, Rahul Gandhi posted a video of Trump's remarks on social media and wrote, "Mr. Modi, what is the truth behind the five fighter jets?"

In response, Malviya countered that Trump did not say which country the planes belonged to and questioned whether he was speaking on behalf of Pakistan. "Rahul Gandhi has a traitor's mindset. Trump did not mention India's name, nor did he say that the five planes belonged to India. So why does the leader of the Congress Party acknowledge them as belonging to India? Why doesn't he think they belong to Pakistan? Is he more sympathetic to Pakistan than his own country?"

Malviya said, "Rahul Gandhi should clarify whether he is an Indian or a representative of Pakistan."

The Indian National Congress posted on social media on July 19, questioning Modi's silence and accusing him of damaging India's national honor. "Trump said that five fighter jets were shot down in the India-Pakistan conflict. Moreover, he claimed for the 24th time that he stopped the India-Pakistan conflict by threatening trade activities. Trump keeps repeating this, while Modi remains silent. Why is Modi sacrificing national honor for trade?"

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh also demanded that Modi must "personally respond" in Parliament.

Pakistani officials previously claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets. On May 7, Pakistan's Defense Minister said on television that Pakistan had shot down five Indian fighter jets. Later that day, the Pakistan Army's media spokesperson confirmed that Pakistan had shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, one Mig, and one Su-30. India, however, stated in late May that after suffering losses in the first day of air combat, it adjusted its tactics and established an advantage before announcing a ceasefire.

Additionally, India also claimed to have shot down "several" Pakistani aircraft. Pakistan denied any loss of aircraft but admitted that its airbase was attacked.
