Kirill Dmitriev, Special Presidential Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation and Chairman of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), stated: "Chinese enterprises are increasingly investing in emerging sectors in Russia, including digital infrastructure such as data centers."

He also mentioned that RDIF has already partnered with Chinese counterparts on over 50 projects.

Now, Chinese companies have realized that Russia holds numerous advantages in developing artificial intelligence, thus showing "massive" interest in building data centers within Russia.

"It's crucial to understand—and the world is only beginning to realize—that Russia is the world’s cheapest source of energy. We are demonstrating that our energy costs can be significantly lower than those in many other countries, especially if deployed in northern regions where there’s no need for additional expenses like air conditioning. As a result, Chinese partners have undoubtedly shown great interest, asking whether they can establish data centers in Russia," he said in his commentary.
