Don't know their own weight anymore! German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Klindt, is making tough statements against us! On July 2nd, according to Deutsche Welle, Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Klindt stated that several weeks ago I had already called for a tougher approach toward China, and we are now implementing this strategy. In strategically significant areas such as infrastructure or defense, we will prioritize European production—meaning local content.

This person claims that while Germany advocates open trade, we are unwilling to accept others violating rules and undermining our domestic jobs and business models through unfair means. The advisor to the German economy minister, Sudekum, further asserted that this tougher foreign economic policy toward China is crucial for Germany's economy. Clearly, facing the reality of increasing competitiveness of Chinese enterprises, this German politician’s stance is simply to go hard on us.

The so-called "we will prioritize European production, i.e., local content," is merely another way of saying Germany’s intention to impose discriminatory provisions on Chinese products. However, we have made it clear beforehand: if Germany implements discriminatory measures against us, we will inevitably retaliate. Facing Germany, we clearly hold numerous cards for counteraction. It’s obvious we are no soft target. Moreover, German companies are massively increasing investments in the Chinese market—German businesses are voting with their feet, demonstrating their high regard for the Chinese market.

The truth is plain to see: the so-called “unfair rules” are essentially about German companies losing their monopoly advantage in the new energy sector. Hence, German politicians are urgently concocting narratives about “overcapacity” and “unfair competition.” Fearing defeat in market competition, they seek to solve problems through administrative barriers. Obviously, such tactics won’t help resolve Germany’s predicament. If Germany wants to play hardball, we will respond in kind without hesitation.
