The White House questions the legality of Denmark's control over Greenland
RIA Novosti, Washington, January 6 - Deputy White House Chief of Staff Miller questioned the legality of Denmark's control over Greenland.
Miller said in an interview with CNN: "It is a practical issue which law Denmark used to gain control over Greenland, what is the basis of their territorial claims? What is the basis for Greenland being part of the Kingdom of Denmark? In order to secure the safety of the Arctic region and defend NATO interests, Greenland obviously should become part of the United States."
When responding to requests not to take military action to annex Greenland, Miller said that the island has only 30,000 people, so military action should not be needed.
On January 4, Miller's wife Katie posted a picture of a map of Greenland covered by the American flag on the social media platform X, with the text "Soon." The Danish ambassador to Washington, Sorensen, reminded that Denmark and the United States are close allies and emphasized that Copenhagen expects the United States to fully respect the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.
